A rare French faience terrine lapin c. 1860, distinguished by its deeply sculpted rabbit lid and the uncommon Fleur-de-lis molding that runs along the sides of the base. The form is entirely hand-modeled, with the irregularities, weight, and thickness characteristic of mid-19th-century rural production. The exterior glaze is a rich aubergine brown with beautiful age-earned character.
Condition: Wear consistent with age and 19th-century glazed earthenware, including small rim chips, glaze losses, and natural firing irregularities. Stable and presents beautifully.
