Antique French Copper Daubiere Braiser, Circa 1800
An antique French copper daubiere (braiser) dating to circa 1800, traditionally used for slow covered etouffee cooking at the edge of the hearth. Hand-hammered from heavy gauge copper and assembled with hand-cut dovetail seams visible along the body and lid. The vessel retains its original copper side handles, an uncommon and functional detail, and a fitted lid designed to maintain gentle, even heat during long braising. A strong and authentic example of early French culinary copper made for durability, control, and long service.
Condition: Antique condition consistent with age and use. Surface wear and patina throughout. Interior tin shows wear from long use. Professional re-tinning can be arranged upon request.
