19th-Century French Terracotta Confit Pot with Original Lid
An authentic late 19th-century (circa 1880-1900) French confit pot, crafted in glazed terracotta and used traditionally for preserving duck or goose confit beneath a layer of fat. The fully glazed interior, thick walls and wide mouth are characteristic of vessels produced specifically for confit rather than dry storage. This example retains its original lid, an uncommon survival.
Condition: Good antique condition consistent with age and original use. Minor rim chips are present, typical of 19th-century confit pots, most likely resulting from daily culinary handling.
Dimensions: 10.75” Diameter (13” handle to handle) 13.75” H
Includes: Shipping within the continental U.S.
